This month we held our first hedgehog house event - a massive success! Hedgehog House Building Day Earlier this month on the 14th of September, we had a busy afternoon of building and crafting with a multitude of hedehog themed activities.Thank you to everyone who came along, it was lovely to see such a good turn out! We hope your houses have residents very soon. These free events are so important in a village community such as Datchet, as it means they are accessible for everyone and brings people together with similar interests. The local hedgehogs will be very grateful for all the hard work put in that day! If you took any pictures of your crafts or of the event, feel free to tag us in them on Instagram - @wildaboutdatchet, or email them to us [email protected], as we'd love to see! To keep posted on our future events, check our website or our Facebook events. Future Plans
We are organising, with the Datchet Parish Council, practical conservation volunteering days in this coming November and December. This will be led by Wild About Datchet and we intend to come together to make visible changes to the surrounding areas, such as having an autumn clean up of run down and over grown areas and litter picking. For something for the younger ones - we are beginning talks with schools about arranging an insect house building day, which we would like to see around the village or in school grounds. As always, we are available to collect or receive pallets and untreated wood in preparation for events like this. If you have any ideas of volunteering days or events, we'd love to hear from you! You can private message us on Facebook, direct message us on Instagram/Twitter or send us an email on [email protected].
